Cowichan U18 Tournament Champs
The Shawnigan Field Hockey girls topped off a short, but intense, indoor season by winning the annual Cowichan U18 tournament this weekend. The team demonstrated disciplined team tactics and cohesion to go through the tournament undefeated including confident victories against top opponents, the Cowichan Typhoon and the Wildcats. Jess A. made an unexpected debut as goalie after the team lost their seasoned starter Leigh C. to an injury. Despite it being Jess's first time suiting up in goalie gear, she did an amazing job of keeping the other teams at bay and surprising players and spectators alike with her natural talent. Once again, Paula J. was the tournament MVP with her exceptional defensive skills and tactical play.
