Shawnigan Regatta

Rowers return to Shawnigan Lake

The boats are back on Shawnigan Lake.

From first-time racers to crews aiming at international success, hundreds of rowers descended on the Read Crewhouse for the Hungerford and Head of the Lake Regattas over the weekend.

Shawnigan's Senior Boys JV 8+ team showed lots of promise, defeating rival Brentwood to kick-start the Saturday afternoon session.

Overall, roughly 500 athletes hit the water, with other competitors including high-school, university and club teams, as well as a crew from Rowing Canada.

Athletes were treated to a sumptuous brunch buffet after their races and the sunshine even managed to fight through the clouds to warm the many coaches and volunteers who helped make the event a great success.
