Stag Classic
It was another exciting weekend for the girls. We joined forces with some select junior girls to host our annual round robin tournament (the Stag Classic).

Friday vs Glenlyon - Fairly competitive game for the first half, but then Shawnigan took over in the second half, winning 35-26. Casey C. lead the way with 18 points; Shelby I. won player of the game with her awesome defensive effort.

Saturday vs Chemainus - Chemainus is a young, inexperienced team, so we knew going into the game that we were going to make sure our juniors saw lots of playing time to get more game experience; we won 52-27. Shelby I. was an offensive star in this game scoring 14 points; players of the game went to Avery C. and Gaby M. for their all-round play.

Saturday vs Duncan Christian - this turned out to be the most exciting game of the year so far. Shawnigan was down 27-18 at the half! After re-emphasizing our strategy with the team, things started to change in the 2nd half. After taking a 36-32 lead going into the 4th quarter, the game went back and forth with each team having the lead at some point. Shawnigan needed to make a lay-up with 8 seconds left in the game to send the game into overtime with the game tied at 58. In overtime, Shawnigan led all the way, winning 72-62, and winning the Stag Classic for the 2nd time in three years. Casey C. was amazing, scoring 11 points in the 1st half and 32 points in the 2nd; 43 points for the game! She was our player of the game, naturally.

The team plays at the Mark Isfeld Tournament this weekend.
