When you become a part of Shawnigan, Shawnigan becomes a part of you.
We take these words seriously. Every man and woman who has experienced a Shawnigan education knows the impact that the years spent on campus has on the rest of their lives. Friendships forged on campus last lifetimes, and the morals imbued and character built through interactions with staff and other adults endure long after graduation.

"I've lived in a lot of places since I graduated - but Shawnigan is the place that always feels like home."
    - Shawnigan alumnus, Class of 1967
    Director of Alumni Relations
    Mr. Roland Borsato
    Grad Year: 1972
Roland Borsato '72 (Ripley's) has worked as the Director of Alumni Relations in the Advancement Office of Shawnigan Lake School for four years. As an alumnus of the School, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his position and the community as a whole. Roland is passionate about Shawnigan and feels he is the person he is today because of how Shawnigan transformed him.

Roland has had much success in his career, having been a vice-president of two major automotive repair companies, a teacher at the University of the Fraser Valley in construction practices, as well as being an accomplished blues musician and chef. He is especially proud of his marriage to Louise for 30 years, and their three daughters: Maria, a teacher; Andrea, a commercial pilot; and Kate, a Psychology Counsellor.

Roland remembers many amazing things from his years spent at Shawnigan as a student but patricular highlights include rowing at Henley, and, following Prince Philip's visit to the School, receiving a personal invite for his rowing crew to visit Buckingham Palace.
