At Shawnigan, we count on the generosity of our donor community for annual giving, capital projects, and strategic initiatives that allow us to deliver a first-class educational experience. By supporting Shawnigan, you help make your school truly exceptional.

Donations from supporters in Canada and the United States will receive a tax receipt in the mail. For tax deductible donations from the United Kingdom, please contact Mike Wolfe, Executive Director Advancement & Community Engagement, by email or at 250-743-6487.

  • Gifts-in-Kind, Gifts-of-Stock and Appreciated Securities

Special gifts-in-kind may be considered on an individual basis. The gift must provide value to one of the School’s programs. Tax receipts can currently only be provided for Canadian gifts. For gifts valued at more than $1,000, an independent third-party appraisal must be provided from a qualified professional.

For more information, please contact the Advancement Office at 250-743-6235.

Gifts of Stock and Appreciated Securities:
While cash donations receive a receipt for the full amount of the gift, securities offer an additional advantage in that donors receive both a receipt for the full current value of the appreciated securities, and an exemption from capital gains taxes on the amount of the appreciation. This can be a significant advantage over a direct donation of cash.

To make a gift of securities, please contact Greg Stevenson at 250-743-6487.
  • Matching Gifts

Many companies will match gifts made by an employee, employee spouse, retiree or director. Donors should check with their company's Human Resources department to see if the employer matches gifts, and obtain a matching gift form to mail in with their donation.
  • Legacy Gifts

Legacy giving to Shawnigan can be tailored to your own unique financial circumstances. Your advisor, lawyer or tax planner can help you find the way that works best for you and your family.
