Financial Aid & Scholarships

Founder’s Awards are needs-based financial aid offerings for incoming and current families. More than 30 percent of families receive a Founder’s Award. Financial aid is assessed and awarded by the Founder’s Committee. A separate third party application (Apple Financial) takes place after a Shawnigan admissions application has been completed. 

Entrance Awards (Merit Based)

Entrance Awards are merit-based, one-time awards provided by the Admissions Office. Students are eligible for an Entrance Award if they are an incoming first-year student who has been accepted to the School. A separate Entrance Award application takes place after successfully being offered a place in the School.   

Dream Scholarship (Merit Based)

The Shawnigan Dream Scholarship, created in 2025, is a merit-based scholarship awarded each year. Students who are entering Grade 8 or 9 for their first year of entry to Shawnigan and reside in Canada and/or the US are eligible to apply. A separate Dream Scholarship application is to be submitted to be considered. 

Named Scholarships (Needs Based)

The Shawnigan Named Scholarship Program provides financial support to promising students based on financial need, as confirmed by an independent financial means assessment, and are awarded to new and current students by our Founder’s Committee and Education Management Team. The criteria for each scholarship are based on the intention of individual donors.
