Children's Chapel

Celebrating Shawnigan's youngest community members
Shawnigan celebrated the youngest members of the community, with a chapel service dedicated to staff children.

An annual favourite, Saturday's service was an energetic and lively event, as a contingent of outspoken youngsters enjoyed the service from the steps leading to the altar.

In his opening words, Reverend Holland told the children how much he valued their attendance in chapel every week. "We want them to really understand how much we appreciate them," Rev. Holland said, adding, "This is the Shawnigan community."

The first reading of the service came from 10-year-old Ridley M., who confidently performed Maya Angelou's Life Doesn't Frighten Me. A former staff kid himself, outdoors instructor Kelsey McDaniel contributed to his favourite service of the year by reading Giraffes Can't Dance by Giles Andreae.

Music Director Shannon Tyrrell then led the gathering in a pair of active songs: Baby Shark and This Little Light of Mine.
