Valentine's Stag

A romantic evening on campus

Love was in the air.

The Stag Café was barely recognizable, as students in Shawnigan's entrepreneurship program transformed the School's favourite hangout into a fine dining establishment for Valentine's Day on Saturday. Gone were the games tables, the books and the snacks. Instead, the Ritz Student Centre looked every bit the part of a romantic restaurant, complete with candles, flowers and elegant table settings.

The options for diners were tantalizing, featuring bruschetta and calamari appetizers, steak and chicken entrées, and mouth-watering desserts. Program instructor Georg Stroebel and a member of the Shawnigan kitchen staff made sure things ran smoothly in the kitchen, though the student chefs, waiters and maître d's seemed well-prepared and on their game. While enjoying their meals, the guests were even serenaded by soothing live music by the Devan Bailey Quartet.

From high-school sweethearts to best friends forever to Shawnigan staff, everyone attending clearly enjoyed a special evening on campus.
