In dance, Amica P. and Barbara H. joined X-Pulse in a first place performance in advanced tap dance. They received an incredible adjudication and were praised for their interesting and intricate rhythms and entertaining performance.

Dancing an advanced contemporary piece to Take Me To Church, Olivia C, Victoria S. and Robyn D. were awarded 1st place in their category. These girls were chosen specifically by the adjudicator as one of his overall favourite dances and were asked to perform again at the Highlight Concert.

Individual musicians also excelled, with Maya J, Jackson G, Isabella Z, and Yang G. all performing very well in advanced instrumental festival categories. Cassie C. won a cash prize for her effort in the classical voice category.

Tai W, meanwhile, proved to be Shawnigan's standout soloist at this year's festival. In addition to her work with the ensemble choirs, Tai won four prizes in the Classical Voice and Musical Theatre categories. Tai was invited back for an encore performance on March 1st, and has also been selected to represent the Cowichan region as the Intermediate Musical Theatre delegate at the Provincial Music Festival this May in Power River.
