Once again, we have enjoyed welcoming students from our exchange school, Azabu. This all-boys school is located in the heart of Tokyo, Japan, and we made sure to give the students a taste of Canadian wilderness and adventure. They went zip-lining on Sunday and got to explore the Kinsol River Trestle (part of the Trans Canada Trail) on Tuesday. The boys stayed in residence with our students and attended classes, sports, and fine arts along with their Shawnigan hosts. They also entertained us with a special presentation in the Wilkinson Theatre centred around Japanese culture, including language, writing, stationary, sport, martial arts, entertainment, and movies. It is always a treat to host these talented young men.
We acknowledge with respect the Coast Salish Peoples on whose traditional lands and waterways we live, learn and play. We are grateful for the opportunity to share in this beautiful region, and we aspire to healthy and respectful relationships with those who have lived on and cared for these lands for millennia.
Shawnigan Lake School is an independent co-educational boarding school for ages 13 –18 on Canada’s beautiful Pacific Coast. Our diverse, interdisciplinary and innovative programming helps shape the next generation of global leaders.
