With a few strokes of a razor, Shawnigan will join the fight against cancer.
Once again, determined students and staff members will be sacrificing their style and warmth over the winter months to raise money for cancer research and show support for families battling the disease.
This year's batch of volunteers is larger than ever, with girls, boys, and several staff members pledging to lose their locks in exchange for donations. In a show of solidarity, all 60 boys in Duxbury House will face the razor together. Renfrew House Director Deb John has even enlisted, saying "I just feel that with so many friends and family being affected, that it's my time to step up and do something to support the research into preventing this devastating illness."
This year's shearing will again coincide with the annual Cops for Cancer "Tour de Rock" event, which will stop at Shawnigan Lake School on Wednesday, Sept. 30th.
