Basketball season begins

Senior boys jump into action at ISA's

The senior boys basketball season will be exciting, if the opening weekend was any indication.

Shawnigan's senior boys tipped off the season at the ISA championship at Brentwood College School, and opened the tournament with an impressive 64-52 victory over the defending BC 'AA' champions from SMUS.

The team then posted a comfortable win over St. George's, setting up a title game against rival Brentwood.

With a busload of Shawnigan fans contributing to a terrific atmosphere, Saturday's intense final saw Brentwood sink the tying basket as time expired, before winning 73-70 in overtime.

The boys head to a tournament in Comox next weekend.
