ISA Golf Championship

Victory on home turf

Shawnigan's golf team has kicked off a busy week with a clutch victory on home turf.

The School hosted the ISA championship Monday at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club.

Facing wet, windy weather, Shawnigan won the event by the narrowest of margins, posting a combined 304 to beat St. George's School by a single stroke.

Grade 12 standout Tristan M. led the way, firing an impressive 67 despite the tough conditions.

"High School golf in this province is incredibly competitive," says Shawnigan golf coordinator David Hyde-Lay. "Who's good this year?  Any town that has a golf course … which is everywhere!"

This week, the squad will also play in the Victoria Police Tournament at Olympic View, the Arbutus Ridge Open and a Vikes Tour event at Bear Mountain.
