Strathcona Provincial Park

Grade 9s in the great outdoors
The Grade 9 class returned on Oct. 25 from four days spent in the beautiful mountain wilderness of Strathcona Provincial Park. Situated 25km west of Campbell River, Strathcona’s landscape is dominated by mountain peaks—some of which are perpetually mantled with snow—along with alpine plateaus and mountain lakes.

The group stayed at the Strathcona Park Lodge, apart from one rainy night spent under tarp during a two-day canoe expedition. During their trip, the students learned valuable Duke of Edinburgh skills such as mapping, reading a compass, preparing for an overnight journey, outdoors cooking and some basic first aid.

In addition to their practical skills, the students also got the opportunity to engage in some fun, adrenaline-filled activities, including a high ropes course and zip lining.
