21st Annual Shawnigan Golf Classic

Golfers enjoyed great weather this year!
The 21st Annual Shawnigan Golf Classic was a huge success. We enjoyed the blessing of blue skies, great food and good friends. Just over one hundred golfers competed for the coveted Shawnigan Gold Jackets. The winners of the event are listed below:

1st Place: Karl Anderson '60, Rob Mitchell, John Mosich and Ray Schuler
2nd Place: Sterling Hein '01, Omar Mawjee '00, David Robinson '95 and Chris Yorath
3rd Place: Ed Steidl '91, John Stibbard '92, Darren Turecki '92 and "friend."

This year's Golf Classic had a new theme with all proceeds being generously donated to the Shawnigan EDGE China Orphanage Fund. Staff and student volunteers made the long trek from Shawnigan to the UBC Golf Course with their mobile "SLS Boutique" and Student Caddy service on a donation basis. The proceeds of the event raised a total of $4,200 (gross) towards our goal of $25,000. This will help cover surgeries for two of the nine orphans benefitting from our community's support. If you missed the opportunity and want to contribute to our fundraiser please contact the Shawnigan Advancement office advancement@shawnigan.ca for more information.

Thank you to all participants and especially to our tee-sign sponsors!
