A leading Robotics student told Chapel about the Provincial Championships:
This weekend Shawnigan Robotics took seven teams to the Provincial Championships in Burnaby.
Many of the students that participated in Provincials spent huge amounts of time trying to get ready, not only staying from 3:30 until dinner every day, but also coming down during their free time in the evening.
I am happy to say that the huge amount of effort put into this was not in vain – because we won the tournament! We came home from provincials with three trophies, and more importantly, three of the eight available spots in the World Championships, which will take place in Louisville, Kentucky, in April.
I would like to thank Mr. Mayes, Mr. Doig and Mr. Kusters, who all put in a huge amount of time to support our team, as well as Mr. Robertson who has made this all possible with his generous support of our endeavours.
Achievements:
Three separate Shawnigan teams qualified for World Championships
Winners of two tournament champion awards in addition to the 'Excellence Award'
Took part in the highest scoring match anywhere in the world so far this year
