5th Annual Conference recap
Over the weekend, the Shawnigan Model United Nations team hosted the 5th Annual ShawMUN Conference. With Shawnigan students involved in roles from Secretariat members to delegates, everyone contributed to the success of the event in their own distinctive way, along with students from 12 schools across the island and the mainland.  Eight unique committee experiences were offered, making ShawMUN 2015 our largest conference in Shawnigan history.  Topics varied from current issues —such as the the use of drones, internet security and FIFA governance - to issues in the past including the First World War and those of the future including the transition of Hong Kong as a Special Administrative Region to a full Chinese territory in 2047.

Overall, students experienced diplomacy, debate and consensus, and hopefully learned skills that will carry them throughout their lives. After months of planning amongst our Secretariat as well as Mr. Klassen, Ms Carballo and Mr. Lupton, the MUN team was pleased by the success of the conference.
