A Shawnigan alumnus gave a fascinating insight into life as a plastic surgeon on Monday.
A former biology teacher and Assistant House Director, Dr. David Tang ’96 (Lake's) gave two presentations to senior science students, beginning by outlining the journey that has taken him from Shawnigan Lake School to operating rooms in Nova Scotia.
Using stories, graphs, and occasionally graphic photos, Dr. Tang gave examples of operations he has performed on injured workers, burn victims, cancer patients, and newborns, and also discussed the anatomy and biology involved.
Currently working as a surgeon, administrator, educator, and mentor, Dr. Tang also spoke about his extensive educational background as well as some of the challenges he faces, such as the 'work-life balance.'
