Second at Friendship Cup

Field Hockey season begins

The Senior Girls Field Hockey team kicked off the new season with a strong performance at the annual Friendship Cup. After posting a 2-1-1 record in four round robin games on Friday and Saturday, the Shawnigan girls qualified for the final, in which they played their best hockey of the season so far. Despite dominating the majority of play in the final, the squad was unable to capitalize on its countless opportunities, ultimately conceding the winning goal on a rare counter-attack in the dying moments of play.

The coaching duo of Mr. and Mrs. Koepp says the second-place finish is the perfect stepping-stone for this young team to build on as they look ahead to next weekend's Senior ISA tournament in Vancouver. "All in all, I was very pleased with the progress the team showed, and the great commitment and willingness to learn and improve" Mr. Koepp says.
