Senior Girls knock on the door

The Senior Girls Field Hockey Team had a successful weekend at the exclusive UBC Tier I Tournament.

The demanding schedule, including a day with four games, is a true test of the team's physical endurance and mental grit. Shawnigan's girls came through, reaching the final against long-time rivals Colllingwood.

Having already played to a scoreless draw against Collingwood in pool play, the Shawnigan squad's re-adjusted strategy allowed the team to control much of the play during the final. Despite dominating, however, Shawnigan was unable to put a mark on the scoreboard. A quick counter-attack, leading to a short-corner, put Collingwood on the board two minutes before the final whistle.

The girls walked away proud of their second-place finish and with renewed confidence that they can hold their own with the top teams in the Province.
