World Scholar's Cup
Shawnigan Scholars in Vancouver
Clara L., Selena L., and Mercedes A. participated in the World Scholar's Cup in Vancouver this past weekend. They were initially worried that they would have to participate with 15-18 year olds due to one upcoming birthday, but they held their own in the senior category. Selena came 35th out of more than 90 participants in the persuasive writing category; Mercedes won first place in the Da Vinci category for doing equally well in all categories; and Clara won two awards: she placed 40th out of more than 90 participants in the individual debate category and was recognized as a School Top Scholar. The team of three has been invited to participate in Global Round in the summer.
