Shawnigan Snaps

This week in pictures
What a week! With all academics, athletics and arts underway, we can truly say that the 2017-18 year is in session.

Our new Grade 8s have already been off campus for a two-night camping trip to Horne Lakes Caves Provincial Park and a local field trip to see the local “City of Totems,” Duncan. In athletics, the whole School gathered for the year’s second Inter-house competition where victory in volleyball was claimed by Kaye’s and Lake’s, the field hockey girls started their year with the Friendship Cup Tournament, and the rugby season commenced with verve (and probably some nerves) as many of our new players encountered this classic Shawnigan “gentleman’s” game for the first time. E-Club participants rolled up their sleeves and waded into the water to help remove more than 750 pieces of garbage from the shoreline of beautiful Shawnigan Lake, while in AP Physics a willing student participant was slowly lowered into a large tub of water to demonstrate the concept of displacement in the most hands-on way possible.

As ever, timely updates, interesting news, current School events and an incredible selection of photos are also all available through our social media sites: FacebookInstagramTwitter and YouTube. You can also join us for Chapel and other events around campus on Live Stream. Follow us and enjoy getting your daily dose of Shawnigan straight to your device!

We acknowledge with respect the Coast Salish Peoples on whose traditional lands and waterways we live, learn and play. We are grateful for the opportunity to share in this beautiful region, and we aspire to healthy and respectful relationships with those who have lived on and cared for these lands for millennia.
