Weekend hockey round-up
Four teams combined for 13 games in a busy weekend for Shawnigan's ice hockey teams. 

Midget Varsity:

Shawnigan's Midget Varsity squad achieved strong results at a divisional showcase in Idaho.

On Friday evening, Rhys D. scored three goals and added an assist as Shawnigan trumped host Coeur D'Alene 7-0. 

On Saturday, Shawnigan scored a 6-2 win over Pilot Mount followed by a 4-1 win over Okanagan Hockey Academy. 

The team then shutout Pursuit of Excellence in a 5-0 scoreline on Sunday. 

Midget Prep:

The School's Midget Prep ventured to Calgary for a divisional showcase hosted by the Edge School.

Shawnigan opened the weekend with an 8-6 loss to IHA, but bounced back with a resounding 9-0 victory over Banff on Saturday.  Kaleb M. scored four goals in Saturday's triumph, while Jojo T. chipped in three assists in Sunday's 5-1 win over Coeur D'Alene. 

Bantam Prep:

The Shawnigan Bantam Prep team stayed closer to home, playing four games at Langford's Westhills Arena. 

On Friday, the group suffered a 6-0 loss to Rink Hockey Academy.

The team then lost 5-1 to OHA on Saturday morning before earning their first win of the season – a 2-1 shootout win over Notre Dame.

The Bantams closed out the weekend with second loss to Rink (5-0).  

Girls Prep:

Shawnigan's girls enjoyed enthusiastic support as they hosted Delta for their home opener and lone home game until February.

In a tightly contested game, the girls fell 2-1 in a shootout to Delta on Saturday evening, before dropping an exhibition contest to Delta on Sunday morning.
