The Shawnigan Cross Country team has been enjoying success while participating in local fall runs.
On Oct. 14, the team ran the annual Goldstream 5 K. Within the many positive results, Dawson A. won the event with a blisteringly fast time of 17:01.
A small contingent then entered the 10 km Cowichan Autumn Classic on Oct. 22. More than 250 participants attended this event, with all Shawnigan runners finishing in the top 65. Dawson A. once again led the team, placing fourth overall (41:29). This was also the first-ever 10 km race for Byron C. and Ethan C, while Raquel A. had a strong run and shaved almost five minutes off her previous 10 km result. The route for this race meandered through country roads and trails. Somehow, the rain held held off and the sun was out for the entire duration.
