Jr Girls and Grade 8s compete at ISA Championships
Shawnigan's Junior Girls showed grit and improvement at the ISA Volleyball tournament last weekend at Brentwood College School.
Facing opponents stocked with club volleyball players and missing Captain Clara L., the girls showed their nerves early on.
However, putting unforced errors behind them, the girls eased into the tournament and began to work better as a team.
After dropping a highly competitive crossover match against BCS, the girls wrapped up the tournament by beating Collingwood in the 7th-place game.
Coaches Laura Robson and Laura Russell report the team improved greatly over the course of the weekend.
Meanwhile, nine girls ventured to Kelowna to compete in the Grade 8 ISA Volleyball Championships, Oct. 19-21.
Although the team was only able to win one very exciting game, the experience was wonderful for the whole group. The team improved their serves, digs, 3 touch control, and footwork with each and every set. More importantly, a lot was learned off the court. The girls learned the value of teamwork and cooperation – valuable life lessons.
Great memories were made for this group of girls and those memories will be a highlight of their first year at Shawnigan Lake School.
