This weekend saw 380 Shawnigan students represented by parents or guardians at the annual fall Parent Open House event.
This event offers parents a chance to get caught up with the busy lives of their children and see Shawnigan in action. With a particular focus on the School’s academic programs, parents are able to connect with teachers, coaches and advisors to discuss their children’s progress in a face-to-face setting.
In addition to this spotlight on academics, the Parent Open House weekend also played host to a productive coat and sleeping bag drive. Donations will be sent to Warmland House, an integrated housing and community support service in Duncan. Raffle tickets for the senior girls’ UK rugby tour fundraiser were also on sale, with ticket buyers hoping to win a luxury fishing trip to Langara Lodge in BC’s remote Haida Gwaii area.
With Parent Open House segueing into a leave weekend and a pre-planned later start to the academic schedule on Monday, the stage has been set for a productive and energized final few weeks of term before the Christmas break.
