Shawnigan Prep students have tested their courage and language skills in one of Canada's most famed alpine destinations.
In the second year of a budding new tradition, Prep students ventured to Whistler/Blackcomb last week for a five-day winter excursion.
Arriving on Friday evening, the group checked into accommodations in the heart of the Whistler Village, enjoying a pizza dinner and preparing for the first day on the slopes.
As many of the students were braving skis and snowboards for the first time, they were ably assisted and coached by Shawnigan staff, many of whom boast extensive ski backgrounds.
After a Saturday off to recuperate and explore the area, the group returned to the slopes on Sunday, developing their ski and snowboard skills while enjoying the views from the Peak 2 Peak Gondola.
Other highlights included a custom trivia night, a scavenger hunt, and a birthday meal for one of the students, as well as many moments of bonding and friendship enhanced by the beautiful sunshine they enjoyed.
We acknowledge with respect the Coast Salish Peoples on whose traditional lands and waterways we live, learn and play. We are grateful for the opportunity to share in this beautiful region, and we aspire to healthy and respectful relationships with those who have lived on and cared for these lands for millennia.
