Heading for Provincials
On Saturday, four students went down to Victoria to compete in the Vancouver Island Regional Debate Tournament. In the morning, the team faced Brentwood and won both times, even surviving the interruption part way through the debate for a fire alarm, and still managing well after restarting. The goal was to place high enough among the many teams to qualify for Provincials, which both the junior team, Victoria S. and Chandler G., and the senior team, Julianne D. and Cecil A., achieved. They will head to Vancouver for Debate Provincials in February with coaches Henry Loxdale and Yuvitra Jeyaraman. This will be the first junior team to go to the Provincials for Shawnigan!
