Fast start for hockey

Early returns for Prep team

Shawnigan's newly-minted Prep ice hockey team is exceeding even its own expectations early in the season.

After posting an undefeated record in the CSSHL's Varsity Division last year, Shawnigan's top team has exploded out of the gates early in its first season of Prep play.

The club opened the campaign on home ice, with a well-attended 5-2 victory over the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy on Sept. 19th.

This past weekend, the squad ventured to the CSSHL's Prep Division showcase in Banff, where it surprised the critics with wins over SISEC (5-2), Banff (7-2), and Edge (4-0).

Meanwhile, Shawnigan has formed a second Midget team to play in the Varsity division, with the squad splitting its opening two games of the season vs. the Pursuit of Excellence Academy.
