Thanksgiving tournament in Chilliwack

Shawnigan's Bantam Prep Hockey Team participated in the 30th annual Chilliwack Bantam 'AAA' tournament over the Thanksgiving weekend.

The tournament was a chance for the Bantams to be challenged by some of the top teams in Western Canada in a highly-scouted, showcase event.

Shawnigan opened the tournament with a hard-fought 3-2 win over the Calgary Bisons, powered by a two-goal performance by Jacob F.

On Saturday, Shawnigan would kill off nine penalties in a 4-0 victory over Kamloops, before earning a 9-0 triumph over Coquitlam. The bantams finished the round robin with a 3-0 record, with both Campbell A. and Karsten L. earning shutouts on Saturday.

Sunday's quarterfinal pitted Shawnigan against the Rocky Mountain Raiders, in what turned out to be a high-flying affair. Led by a sensational five-goal performance from JoJo T., Shawnigan took the lead early and often, ultimately prevailing 8-7.

Early Monday morning, a banged-up Shawnigan squad faced Delta Hockey Academy in semi-final play. Looking fresh, Delta jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, advancing to a final vs. Yale thanks to a 5-1 win.

Shawnigan's Bantams finished the tournament with a 4-1 record, and enjoyed "fantastic" Chilliwack hospitality throughout!
