Colts take the field
The SLS Colts played Saint George's in a closely fought contest on Tuesday. At half time, St. George's led 12-7 and both teams were playing with subdued confidence; there was more to come. After the break, St. George's came out strongly, scoring an early try off a fumbled ball behind the SLS try line. They followed that up with a well-worked try to take the score to 26-7. The Colts had their work cut out. Through two fantastic individual efforts by Moamen E. and Riory Y., the Stags were back in the match 26-21, before they drew level with a quality team try. Jamin H. stayed calm and thumped home the two points to give the home side a two-point lead with six minutes remaining. Unfortunately, it was not to be. An inability to clear their lines enabled the visitors to score a try with a final flurry of pressure. Despite this, the Stags mounted one last effort into the corner, with the ball being fumbled just short of the line. A fairy-tale ending it wasn't to be; however, the comeback was encouraging. We play Oak Bay on Thursday at Claremont in the Scrumfest Tournament.
