Senior Girls finish in Courtenay

The North Island Championship

The senior girls have reached the end of their competitive soccer season after a trial at the North Island 'AA' Championship.

After opening the tournament with a very strong showing against Ladysmith on Monday morning, the squad lost to host Mark Isfeld in the afternoon, setting up a must-win showdown against Ballenas on Tuesday.

Missing two starters due to injury and five more for AP exams, the girls earned a 1-0 lead midway through the Ballenas matchup, but were unable to hang on, losing 2-1.

The girls were upbeat after the tournament, knowing how far they had come as a team during the short spring season.  They also have an exciting core group returning and a handful of impressive Grade 10s set to move up next year!
