Jeans Day

Supporting BC Children's Hospital
An inspiring message led to an outpouring of support, as the Shawnigan community exchanged school dress for jeans.

An annual tradition across the Province, Jeans Day invites British Columbians to purchase buttons and wear denim as a major fundraiser for B.C. Children's Hospital.

Last Tuesday, a Shawnigan student who recently endured a series of arduous treatments at Children's Hospital spoke candidly about the amazing care she received – care that she says filled her with "courage, strength and confidence."

"Back then, the things I was most thankful for were the dinners, the concerts, the exceptional care and even the small yet comforting things, such as the warm blankets and the popsicles," she said.  "However, when I think about it now, none of these things can even compare to the fact that, on top of doing all of that, they were also saving my life."

On Thursday, students and staff responded generously, supporting B.C. Children's Hospital with roughly $6,000 in donations.
