ISA Field Hockey Tournament at Crofton House

Confidence and teamwork the words of the day
The Senior Girls’ field hockey team played all four games of the ISA Field Hockey Tournament in Vancouver with good defensive work and quick counterattacks. Overall, Head Coach Shiaz Virjee shares, the results were similar to the Friendship Cup with the ultimate loss of the bronze medal to York House School happening in a close 1-0 game.

“This tournament marks a big step forward for our young team, who showed better execution and awareness of positioning on the field,” explains Mr. Virjee. “The team was down several players due to injuries and sickness; however, the rest of the girls picked it up and there was no ‘quit’ in the team. Going forward we are working on important building blocks each week during practice and weekend tournaments—instilling in the girls the importance of remaining confident and positive and continuing to work as a team.”

Upcoming this weekend is a slew of tough games at the UBC Tournament where the girls will face top AAA schools such as Handsworth and West Vancouver Secondary among others. The team and coaching staff are looking forward to the challenge.
