Shawnigan’s 16 competitive swimmers raced with vigor and enthusiasm in the ISA meet at Richmond’s Watermania on Thursday.
“Our swimmers were not only incredible ambassadors for the School but were also very successful,” shares Head Coach Carmen Boudreau.
The girls’ team came 6th overall thanks in part to the valiant efforts of Nicole S., who had a second place finish in 100 m freestyle, and Jamie B., who achieved a fourth place finish in the 200 m individual medley. Shawnigan also had three relays (boys and girls) finish in the top seven.
“When we compare Shawnigan's numbers to other Vancouver schools with over 100 swimmers able to score points, we should be very proud,” says Ms. Boudreau. “We have lots of new faces this year and many opportunities for students to qualify for provincials next week at the Zone meet in Nanaimo.”
We acknowledge with respect the Coast Salish Peoples on whose traditional lands and waterways we live, learn and play. We are grateful for the opportunity to share in this beautiful region, and we aspire to healthy and respectful relationships with those who have lived on and cared for these lands for millennia.
