The Shawnigan swim team performed well at the Island Zone Qualifying meet for Provincials in Nanaimo on Sunday. The team comprised of 18 swimmers, many of whom improved their times from last week’s ISA meet in Richmond. While the team did not achieve any qualifiers in individual events, the athletes qualified in two relay events.
“It's a pretty big deal for us to make it to Provincials as this is only the second time in six years that we have,” says Coach Carmen Boudreau.
Ms. Boudreau shared that there were several student who also came very close to qualifying in individual events, including Damir K., Nicole S., Madoc T., Rhys T., Ryan S. and Jamie B.
While the eight swimmers who will advance to Provincials have yet to be named, Ms. Boudreau has a strong group of students to select from. Provincials will take place in Richmond from November 17-18.
