A handful of Shawnigan students enjoyed an authentic Canadian experience with a midterm excursion to the Rocky Mountains. 20 students joined four staff members in a tour of the Canadian Rockies over the November break, travelling from Oct. 27 – Nov. 5.
After beginning the tour in Calgary, the group soon ventured to Pincher Creek and then onto the interpretive centre and World Heritage Site at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump.
Over the next few days, the entourage visited Fort Steele and the Kootenay Trout Hatchery, went climbing and rappelling in Kimberley, and enjoyed the natural hot springs in Fairmont and Radium.
Reaching the mountains, the group spent time in Lake Louise and Banff, perusing the shops with other tourists and scaling famed Sulphur Mountain. They also toured Dinosaur Provincial Park and the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller before ending the journey back in Calgary.
