Strategic Plan

Invest for Financial Resilience

To secure Shawnigan’s long-term ability to deliver on its mission, we must steward our financial resources with foresight, discipline, and creativity. By advancing our financial planning, enrolment, and fundraising strategies, we will build greater resilience and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic global landscape.
Priority 1: Implement long-term financial planning frameworks that ensure stability, support strategic growth, and build resilience.

Objectives:
  • Establish a robust multi-year budget-setting process that supports long-term planning, strategic investments, cost optimization, and reserve fund growth.
  • Align financial planning with strategic priorities to ensure long-term sustainability and agility in changing economic conditions.
  • Increase financial literacy and ownership among the senior leadership team through education and structured engagement.
Priority 2: Increase boarding demand across all grade levels through enhanced admissions and marketing strategies that reflect our mission and broaden our reach.

Objectives:
  • Develop and implement a segmented admissions strategy focused on growing applications for Grade 8 and 9 boarding students, with clear enrollment targets and success metrics.
  • Strengthen our global brand positioning through data-informed marketing, compelling storytelling, and targeted outreach to new domestic and international markets.
  • Expand our summer and seasonal programs as intentional entry points into the Shawnigan experience, with alignment to long-term enrollment goals.
  • Strengthen partnerships with educational consultants, agents, and feeder schools to diversify recruitment pipelines and reach mission-aligned families.
Priority 3: Increase the accessibility of a Shawnigan education by advancing the Imagine Shawnigan campaign with an intentional focus on scholarships and financial aid growth.

Objectives:
  • Launch and grow a legacy giving program to drive sustainable endowment growth.
  • Strengthen donor and alumni engagement through tailored communications, events, and stewardship aligned with campaign goals.
  • Advance inclusion and diversity through targeted fundraising for scholarships and financial aid to broaden access and impact.
