Priority 1: Ignite passions, cultivate compassion, and develop leadership skills by offering students a broad, interconnected range of experiences through the Shawnigan Journey, with a special emphasis on expanding service, sustainability, and experiential educational opportunities.
Objectives:
- Develop opportunities for deep immersion and specialization as students move through the Shawnigan Journey that support unique university and career pathways, while fostering life-long passions.
- Maximize the educational potential of our wilderness setting on Vancouver Island.
- Instill a life-long respect for the environment and British Columbia.
Priority 2: Motivate students to understand and value teamwork, resilience, and belonging through their shared achievements in sports, as the athletics and recreational programs evolve to improve performance, enhance engagement, and grow participation.
Objectives:
- Position athletics as a core component of Shawnigan’s student development.
- Promote life-long physical activity and a culture of commitment, integrity, and courage to take risks in the pursuit of success, and to learn and grow from those experiences.
- Strive for a competitive edge at provincial and international levels in flagship and competitive sports whilst offering inclusive recreational opportunities.
- Integrate athletics with academics and student life for holistic growth.
Priority 3: Establish Shawnigan’s co-curricular profile as among the best in its class, with a global reputation for running unique and extraordinary programs.
Objectives:
- Design programs and experiences that attract a diverse student body.
- Through the quality of our programs and partnerships, attract, retain, and develop a high-performing, diverse, and inspirational co-curricular staff team that makes maximum use of our superb facilities and inspires and motivates students.
- Elevate the profile and impact of the Performing and Fine Arts programs and advance the Applied Arts through the C.A.S.E (Communications, Arts, Sciences and Entrepreneurship) partnership.
- Foster greater family engagement and advocacy in co-curricular programming.
