In the Spartan Classic Tournament on the weekend, the Senior Boys Basketball Team split their results, winning two games and losing two. The first games after winter break produced many turnovers, resulting in early-round losses to Mount Doug and Lambrick, despite strong back-to-back performances by Nathan B, scoring 13 and 8 points, respectively. The two games on Saturday showed notable improvements as the scoring resurged to pre-break play and the team won both of their games versus Spectrum and Claremont. Many players contributed to the scoring. Versus Spectrum, Linus L poured in 13 points, Litha N added 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Akshay M contributed 10 points. In the final match-up, against the host team, Shawnigan had strong output from Litha N, with 23 points and 20 rebounds. Tristan M also had eight points, while Linus L and Irvin C chipped in seven each.
Meanwhile, the Senior Girls defeated Gulf Islands Secondary 44-40 in an intense back-and-forth battle on Tuesday. Emily V lead the way with 16 points, while Gaby M had 14.
Good luck to the four teams who are in tournament action this weekend:
The Senior Boys travel to Victoria for the Police Tournament starting on Thursday.
The Junior 'A' Boys travel to Vancouver for the ISA Championships.
The Junior Girls travel to Courtenay for the Isfeld Tournament.
The Senior Girls are within cheering distance at the BCS Tournament.
