Maple Sap Collection
The E-Club makes syrup
The Environment Club continues to make the most of Shawnigan's forested campus.
This week, the group has been busy harvesting sap from maple trees around the School's grounds.
An annual exercise, the students tap the trees, return a few days later, and then boil the collected sap until it becomes a tasty, homemade maple syrup.
We acknowledge with respect the Coast Salish Peoples on whose traditional lands and waterways we live, learn and play. We are grateful for the opportunity to share in this beautiful region, and we aspire to healthy and respectful relationships with those who have lived on and cared for these lands for millennia.
