Squash major

The Pacific Northwest Junior Championships

A large contingent of Shawnigan squash players invaded Victoria this weekend for the Pacific Northwest Squash Championships.

Two athletes earned gold medals for their performances, including Colin W. in the Boys Under-19 'Bronze' division and Thomas D. in the Boys U-15 'Bronze' event.

Two of the School's star players, Ryan P. and Nour E., both showed excellent form despite competing against older players. In the Boys U-19 main event, 16 year-old Ryan P. reached the quarter-finals before losing a great matchup against the eventual tournament champion (and top-ranked Canadian) Rahul Sehrewat.  Nour E., meanwhile, reached the semifinals of the girls U-19 bracket before losing a five-game marathon to the eventual tournament winner.

Aaron W. was also impressive, finishing third in the Boys U-15 'B' draw.
