Farewell to Azabu

A visit from friends from Japan

Shawnigan has once again enjoyed the company of friends from Azabu High School.

At the beginning of April, a group of exchange students from Japan made a visit to Vancouver Island.

The 10 students and two teachers stayed in Shawnigan dorms and participated in classes, sport, meals, and chapel, as well as enjoying an evening with Mr. Mayes in the observatory and a hike to the Kinsol Trestle.

Shawnigan students enjoying the Friesen Centre on Friday evening were able to enjoy 'Japan Night,' as the visiting students made short presentations about life at home.  Their visit culminated with a farewell barbecue at the Hyde-Lay Pavilion on the final night of their trip.

A group of Shawnigan students went to Tokyo in November of 2015, and the two schools plan to continue their fruitful relationship in the years to come.
