Skate donation

SPA donates skates and helmets

Skates and helmets are now available at the rink for Shawnigan students and staff to borrow, thanks to a donation from the Shawnigan Parents Association (SPA).  The donation includes 35 helmets and 93 pairs of hockey and figure skates in a variety of sizes.

“Many students who come to Shawnigan have never skated before or have not brought their skates with them,” says Cheryl Miranda, Chair of SPA. “The school is very fortunate to have a rink on site, and we are pleased to provide equipment that will give more students an opportunity to use it.”

Special thanks to Roger d’Amour, Arena Chief Engineer, as well as Kirby’s Source for Sports for assisting SPA with this initiative.

Students and staff are welcome to use the equipment on a sign-in/sign-out basis, free of charge. The Arena Operator on shift at the rink will provide access to the equipment.

For further information about the equipment, please email Roger d’Amour at rdamour@shawnigan.ca.
