Grade 8 Rugby

The fall term comes to a close
Last Thursday was our final day of term one sport at Shawnigan. It has been an interesting experiment to watch as the students have adapted in an amazing fashion to the changes forced upon all in sport during the pandemic.

This was never more evident than with the Grade 8 boys, who finished off in style with a full field game of touch rugby on the Canada Field. The coaches were thrilled to see such spirit and talent on display. The future looks very bright for this group and for rugby at Shawnigan.

After the game, the boys were met by Tom M. and Ted C. from the Senior Boys 1st XV to congratulate them on their efforts and to share their feelings on the importance of rugby at Shawnigan. In addition, these senior leaders helped in the presentation of the end of season awards:

Best Attackers: George G., Dennis B. and Otis P.
Best Defenders: Dylan A., Hayden J. and Emerson K.
MVPs: Tomas K., Adam A. and Ryland C.

— Tim Murdy, Director of Athletics and Head of Rugby

Shawnigan Lake School is adhering to all COVID-19 guidelines released by the BC Ministries of Health and Education, including those regarding learning cohorts, physical distancing and mask-wearing when appropriate.
