Shawnigan hosts SMUS on the lake.
On Saturday, SMUS brought 30 athletes up to participate in a shared practice with our rowing teams. The weather co-operated as it was a beautiful, sunny day, and the kids from both schools enjoyed some great rowing. Coaches from the two schools rode together in coach boats, and athletes even switched mid-practice to row together. It was great to see recent Shawnigan coach Danielle Beare back on the lake. The talk on the docks was that this will become an annual event as both schools benefitted greatly from the experience. Shawnigan rowing has now hosted Claremont School, Brentwood, St. George's and SMUS in an attempt to break up the monotony of winter training. Some rowers head to Florida on Thursday, a Shawnigan rowing camp starts on March 25th, and then we will be on to our racing season. Follow SLS rowing on Twitter and Facebook for regular updates.
