The ISA Squash Championships were held in Victoria on Friday 24th January. This is the major team event of the squash season and is fiercely contested amongst the strongest schools. This year was no exception, and Shawnigan were once again victorious in the Senior Boys' Division where they have been dominant for many years. The members of the team who took the Championship trophy and gold medals were: Bransten M., Justin M., Liam M., Nathan B., Nicho L., Simom L-S. The Junior Boys played very well to earn the silver medal in a very close final encounter with SMU. Team members were: Rhys B., Jack S., Jake E., Graydon M., Nicholas M., Hugh G. The Girls' team gained valuable match experience in what is a building year for Shawnigan. Spearheaded by BC ranked Kelsey M., the team (Rie O., Elise M., Barbara H-L., Freya W.) won the bronze medal.
The next competition will be the Pacific Northwest Junior Championships 13-16th February hosted by the Cedar Hill Club in Victoria. Some of the top ranked players in the country will be in attendance which will make for excellent competition.
