Lonsdale's House sang in one voice during Saturday's House chapel service.
For their turn leading the Shawnigan Chapel, Lonsdale's worked with a theme of unity to produce a positive and authentic service.
In his time at the lectern, Head of House Anders F. touched on some simple traditions, like the creation of nicknames, as a fun way to promote unity. He also recollected a crash at ski week in his Grade 10 year that left him with a lacerated spleen. "Throughout my helicopter ride, cat scan and week in the hospital, it was knowing that all of my best friends were waiting for me back at the House that got me through it."
Grade 12 Callum C. also spoke about unity, reminiscing about his first time facing cleanup duty in the Lonsdale's kitchen. After using the wrong dishwasher detergent and creating a soapy mess, Callum recalled how a senior student helped him clean up, teaching him about teamwork and forgiveness in the process.
A Lonsdale's House band also contributed to the theme, with a charming rendition of Jack Johnson's "Better together."
