A warm welcome to this year's Prep School students
This Wednesday saw the Prep School opens its doors to 15 new students from countries including Korea, Vietnam, China and Japan.
Shawnigan Headmaster David Robertson was on site to meet with the students and their families and welcome them formally to the Shawnigan Lake School community. He was assisted in this welcome by several former Prep School students who were on hand to help the newcomers and translate for them and their families.
Now in its seventh year, the Prep School is already a well-known program that has helped many international students learn more about Canadian culture and improve their English. By creating this firm foundation, Prep School students are equipped to fulfil their goals of a rigorous post-secondary education at the top universities in North America.
Many of the students excel in areas of academics, athletics and arts that are highly valued at Shawnigan. After a year of intensive English language immersion and special programming, these talented students will be fully prepared to participate in classes and continue on their path to being successful Shawnigan students and, ultimately, graduates.
