Day Students

Our day students are integral members of the Shawnigan community and full members of our boarding houses, with each day student enjoying their own desk and wardrobe space in a dorm room — making changing for sports or arts or settling down to an evening of prep just as straightforward as it is for their boarding peers. Arriving each morning for breakfast, day students stay on campus the whole day, including evening prep, before heading home for the night.

On the weekends, day students contribute fulsomely to boarding house life, Chapel and sport commitments. If space is available, Grade 12 students have the opportunity to stay overnight occasionally at their boarding house in line with their House and School responsibilities. Grade 8 to 11 day students may also have an opportunity to stay over once in a while. Our local day students enjoy the benefits of staying within their local community while gaining significantly from the unique independence, autonomy and agency that a full boarding experience provides.
We acknowledge with respect the Coast Salish Peoples on whose traditional lands and waterways we live, learn and play. We are grateful for the opportunity to share in this beautiful region, and we aspire to healthy and respectful relationships with those who have lived on and cared for these lands for millennia.
